  3. (c) Charu requested her friend that she wanted her to be there at 6.00 p.m. tomorrow for the meeting
  4. (d) Charu told her friend that she will want her to be here at 6.00 p.m. the next day for the meeting

Solution.

Answer: (a) Charu told her friend that she wanted her to be there at 6.00 p.m. the next day for the meeting

  1. Under the usual later-report convention, “said to” becomes “told”, “want” backshifts to “wanted”, “here” becomes “there”, and “tomorrow” becomes “the next day”.
  2. The pronouns become “she” for Charu and “her” for the friend.
  3. Option (a) applies all these changes consistently.
