  3. (3) Divide 50 into 10 equal groups.
  4. (4) There are 10 biscuits in a packet. How many biscuits will be there in 5 such packets ?

Solution.

CBSE answer: (2)

Answer: (2) 30 students into 5 groups of same size

  1. Equal sharing means a total is shared among a known number of groups, and we find the size of each share.
  2. Here total = 30, groups = 5, so each group has 30÷5=630 \div 5 = 6 students.
  3. (1) does not say how many friends, so it cannot be solved; (3) is a bare sum, not a real-life situation.

Trap: (4) asks for 10×510 \times 5, which is multiplication.
