The numerical values of perimeter and area of a square are equal. The length of the side of the square is :

Solution.

Answer: (2) 4 units

Let the side be $a$ . Perimeter $= 4a$ , area $= a^2$ .
$4a = a^2 \Rightarrow a = 4$ (side cannot be 0).
Check: perimeter $= 4 \times 4 = 16$ units and area $= 4 \times 4 = 16$ square units, so the numbers are equal.

Trap: (1) 2 gives perimeter 8 but area 4.
