CTET 1 Mar 2026 Paper 1, Question 13

Topic: Assessment

Q13

Given below are two statements, one marked as Assertion (A) and the other as Reason (R). Read the statements and choose the correct option.
Assertion (A) : To ensure assessment for learning, teacher-made tasks should be included for providing feedback to support student learning rather than the use of standardised outcome performances.
Reason (R) : Standardized tests are more aligned with the assessment of learning rather than assessment for learning.

  1. (1) Both (A) and (R) are true and (R) is the correct explanation of (A).
  2. (2) Both (A) and (R) are true, but (R) is not the correct explanation of (A).
  3. (3) Both (A) and (R) are false.
  4. (4) (A) is true, but (R) false.Correct answer

Solution.

CBSE answer: (4)

Answer: (4) (A) is true, but (R) is false.

  1. (A) is true: assessment for learning needs the teacher's own tasks that give feedback while learning is still going on.
  2. (R) is read as false: 'standardised' only means uniform conditions and scoring, not a summative purpose.
  3. Standardised tests can also be used diagnostically to find gaps and plan teaching, so they are not tied to assessment of learning alone.
Our note

Note: most textbooks treat standardised tests as mainly summative, so (R) can also be read as true and as the reason for (A), which gives option (1).
