Topic: Language acquisition

Q104

Comprehensible input includes :

  1. (1) Using a variety of techniques such as gestures, body language, pictures, and objects.Correct answer
  2. (2) Objectives displayed in the classroom.
  3. (3) Grouping students appropriately.
  4. (4) The syllabus and language objectives displayed for the parents to ensure what is being taught to their children.

Solution.

CBSE answer: (1)

Answer: (1) Gestures, body language, pictures and objects

  1. Comprehensible input (Krashen) is language the learner can understand, pitched slightly above the current level.
  2. Teachers make input understandable with gestures, pictures, real objects and body language, so meaning comes through even when some words are new.
  3. Displayed objectives, grouping and syllabus notices do not make the language itself understandable.

Trap: grouping students helps classroom management, not the clarity of input.
