The arithmetic mean of 100 observations is 50. If 10 is added to each observation then what will be the new arithmetic mean ?

Solution.

Answer: (c) 6060

  1. Adding 10 to each observation raises the total by 100×10100 \times 10, so the mean rises by 10 as well.
  2. 50+10=6050 + 10 = 60.
