NDA 1 2025 Maths, question 93

Topic: Differential calculus

Passage · Q93 to Q94

Let the function f(x)=x2+9f(x) = x^{2} + 9.

Q93

What is lim⁡x→0f(x)−3f(x)+7−4\lim_{x \rightarrow 0}\frac{\sqrt{f(x)} - 3}{\sqrt{f(x) + 7} - 4} equal to?

  1. (a) 2/3
  2. (b) 1
  3. (c) 4/3Correct answer
  4. (d) 2

Solution.

Answer: (c) 4/3

  1. Rationalise both differences.
  2. For x≠0x \neq 0, the quotient becomes x2/(x2+9+3)x2/(x2+16+4)=x2+16+4x2+9+3\frac{x^{2}/\left( \sqrt{x^{2} + 9} + 3 \right)}{x^{2}/\left( \sqrt{x^{2} + 16} + 4 \right)} = \frac{\sqrt{x^{2} + 16} + 4}{\sqrt{x^{2} + 9} + 3}.
  3. Taking x→0x \rightarrow 0 now gives 8/6=4/38/6 = 4/3.
