NDA 1 2025 Maths, question 101

Topic: Statistics

Passage · Q101 to Q104

The frequency distribution of height of students of a class is given below:

Height (in cm) Number of Students
160–162 12
162–164 15
164–166 24
166–168 13
Q101

What is the total number of students whose height is less than or equal to 165 cm?

  1. (a) 15
  2. (b) 39Correct answer
  3. (c) 51
  4. (d) None of the above

Solution.

Answer: (b) 39

  1. Below 164 cm there are 12+15=2712 + 15 = 27 students.
  2. 165 cm is the middle of the 164 to 166 class, so take half of its 24 students: 12.
  3. Total: 27+12=3927 + 12 = 39.

Trap: A grouped table cannot give an exact count; the answer assumes the 24 students are spread evenly across the class, as is standard.
