  3. (c) There are two correct statements, that include statement 1.
  4. (d) There is no correct statement.Correct answer

Solution.

Answer: (d) There is no correct statement.

  1. Statement 1 is incorrect: the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes is appointed by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha from among its members, not by the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
  2. Statement 2 is incorrect: out of its 30 members, 20 are elected by the Lok Sabha and 10 by the Rajya Sabha (the statement reverses the numbers).
  3. Statement 3 is incorrect: a Minister cannot be elected as a member of the Committee (with no exception for the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment), and any member appointed a Minister ceases to be on the Committee.
  4. Statement 4 is incorrect: the term of office of members of the Committee is not more than one year, not two years.
