  1. (a) 1:31:3Correct answer
  2. (b) 3:13:1
  3. (c) 2:32:3
  4. (d) 3:23:2

Solution.

Answer: (a) 1:31:3

  1. Alloy PP has 20%20\% copper, alloy QQ has 60%60\% copper, and the target alloy RR has equal amounts of copper and zinc (50%50\% copper).
  2. By alligation, the required ratio of PP to QQ is (60−50):(50−20)=10:30=1:3(60 - 50) : (50 - 20) = 10 : 30 = 1 : 3.
