Passage · Q11 to Q12

Sport is not just about winning medals or getting jobs through a sports quota. Today's generation is struggling with issues like depression and anxiety. Parents often say that their children are inactive and rarely leave the house. Sport can help tackle these problems. From sport you can learn time management, fitness, teamwork, coordination, and so much more. We need to develop a culture in which sport is seen as a way of life—a path to building a healthier, happier society.

Solution.

Answer: (d) 1, 2 and 3

  1. Statements 1 and 2 are correct: the passage calls for seeing sport as a way of life and notes that sport can tackle the problem of children being inactive and rarely leaving the house (seclusion).
  2. Statement 3 is correct: the opening sentence ('Sport is not just about winning medals or getting jobs through a sports quota') acknowledges that sport does enable winning medals and securing jobs through a sports quota, while arguing its value goes further.
  3. Statement 4 is incorrect: the passage explicitly states that sport teaches time management, teamwork, and coordination, which are core workplace skills.
