  1. In 1923, after the Sessions Court sentenced 172 peasants to death in the Chauri Chaura case, Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya (assisted by Barrister Krishna Kant Malaviya) argued their appeal before Chief Justice Grimwood Mears at the Allahabad High Court.
  2. His brilliant legal defence secured the acquittal of 38 accused and commuted the death sentences of 115 others, saving 153 lives from the gallows.
