1. Assigning each letter its alphabetical position ($\text{A}=1, \dots, \text{Z}=26$), the code multiplies the positions of the letters: $\text{NO} = 14 \times 15 = 210$, $\text{NOT} = 210 \times 20 = 4200$, and $\text{NOTE} = 4200 \times 5 = 21000$.
2. Since $\text{S}$ is the 19th letter, $\text{NOTES} = 21000 \times 19 = 399000$.
