Q115

The spectators thronged the stadium to watch favourite star perform.

  1. (a) The spectators
  2. (b) thronged the stadium to watch
  3. (c) favourite star perform.Correct answer
  4. (d) No error.

Solution.

Answer: (c) favourite star perform.

  1. Favourite star is a singular countable noun phrase and needs a determiner in this context.
  2. Their is the most natural choice because the spectators are the people whose favourite is being described.
  3. Correction: “The spectators thronged the stadium to watch their favourite star perform.” The bare infinitive perform after watch + object is correct.
